Job Description:

Summary:
Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Information Literacy Librarian will take a central role in organizing, delivering, and promoting the library, its resources, and information literacy instruction to faculty and students at Worcester State University.

Responsibilities:
1. Participates in the planning, coordinating, delivery, promotion, and assessment of the university's information literacy program.
1. Engages in the development of an information literacy curriculum, that integrates information literacy into academic and special programs.
2. Engages in the development of instructional design methodologies.
3. Participates in the teaching of library use and information literacy classes.
4. Collaborates with faculty to integrate information literacy instruction with the curriculum.
5. Promotes awareness of library services and resources.
6. Engages in current professional development in information instruction pedagogy and practices.
7. Collaborates with other librarians involved in library instruction.
8. Assists in collection development.
9. Serves as library liaison to one or more academic departments.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Library Director.

Requirements:

Experience:

1. 3- 5 years' experience teaching library instruction in an academic setting.
2. Demonstrated experience in course development, understanding of academic programs and teaching methods and principles.
3. Demonstrated Reference service experience in an academic library.
4. Familiarity with educational/library instructional technologies (Such as Blackboard, web 2.0 technologies, LibGuides, and electronic resources).
5. Experience with use of web authoring tools.
6. Experience with Integrated Library Systems, such as Voyager, online databases, and other internet information resources.

Qualifications:

1. Masters in Library and Information Science degree from an ALA- accredited institution. Strong understanding of the ACRL competency standards for Information Literacy. Strong interpersonal and oral skills, with the ability to work with diverse constituencies.
2. Ability to work flexibly, collaboratively and collegially, with a strong public service commitment.
3. Added consideration will be given to candidates holding a Second Master's degree in an academic subject area.
