DETROIT (WKZO) -- The Michigan Department of Corrections is investigating whether former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick violated his parole by failing to report a financial gift.

Kilpatrick is seen on a Chesterfield Township Walmart surveillance video last month cashing a two-thousand dollar wire transfer from a Chicago pastor. ?Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Russ Marlan says the former Detroit Mayor should have reported the gift.

Reverend Corey Brooks said he acted on a Kilpatrick letter asking for help, while Kilpatrick maintained that he did nothing improper.
